What is Spirit calling us to be? We followed our hearts and radiated our light and now we have visions to share! Join us for 2020 Vision Destiny Day, April 16, 2011!
How did we get to Destiny Day?
It started with a curiosity about Appreciative Inquiry. The curiosity was explored and an idea prospered. The idea matured and birthed an Advisory Team and a Program named 2020 Vision. Knowing the idea was good, the Advisory Team included others, 70 others to be exact. The 70 ventured forth to learn, and then interviewed 200+ congregants. The Advisory Team and dedicated congregants poured over the 200+ interviews, holding each one as precious, and identified the themes and topics of greatest resonance to the congregation.
In October 2010, over 80 congregants gathered at the 2020 Vision Summit to receive the findings of the interviews. The 80 voted to focus attention on 4 key strategic themes for Unity of Walnut Creek for 2020:
- Children and Family
- Community Connection and Growth
- Spiritual Community Outreach
- Spiritual Growth
That same day, four Design Teams were created, each one representing a strategic theme. Congregants rose from their chairs and signed their names to commit their energy, intention, love and attention to these new teams. Each team received a coach from the Advisory Team, and for the past 5 months, each team has been working, praying, playing, planning and growing together in crystallizing the future vision for Unity of Walnut Creek.
